Easy Ideas for Dining Room Table
Sunday, September 6, 2009 5:37 No Comments
Dining room tables can be fun, so use your imagination in presenting a look. You can get this elegant look on a shoe string budget! Fresh flowers ALWAYS add a nice touch to the table. You don’t have to put them in fancy vases…a regular glass out of your cabinet or jars will work beautifully. Cut your flowers a bit short to cover the glass a bit and choose bright colors. Add a few bowls to the center, fresh fruit and there you have it. A gorgeous, elegant and refined table for under $50. Neutral plates and a pop of color on the napkins. Choose a color out of the main color scheme to add some zest and interest to your look. A personalized place setting is always nice and something your guest can take home. Hope you enjoy this look and remember…..Be creative with your color choices!
Neutral Living Room

I love this neutral living room. To achieve this look choose 3 or 4 shades you like that are a bit off from each other. You want to avoid everything being so matching. Once you get everything put together you can tie your look together with a great pillow choice that incorporates all your color selections. The different shades play off of each other creating interest in an otherwise plain canvas. Notice in the picture above the shades of browns, tans, taupe’s…then the perfect pillow to tie it together. Always place some greenery throughout your rooms and add your “pop” color to at least one of the arrangements. When you have lighter walls and cabinets that can be seen from the living room, you always want to choose a darker wood or contrasting paint to anchor the room. Don’t forget a great area rug ALWAYS sets the tone for a great room. When going neutrals choose interesting patterns with subdued colors for the area rug. You can’t go wrong by placing the different shades you’ve choose throughout the rooms. Enjoy!!
Living Room – Dining Room Combo

This is a beautiful clean look for a living room/ dining room combo. If you are working with a small space remember to keep the window as open as possible. You can achieve this by adding crown molding around the windows and leaving them without window treatments if possible. This will provide a spacious feeling throughout the area. Stay symmetrical with this look. It will give you appearance of a larger space by offering more area to move in. Use interesting fabrics, textures and accessories while keeping your palate neutral. A few interesting pieces are always better than overdoing it with too many nick knacks! Last but not least when you are working with a room that is limited in space add mirrors in key places to “open” the room up and give it the feel that it is really larger than it is.
Simply White Bedroom

A simple white bedroom can be a stunner! To get this look keep the theme throughout the entire room in whites or neutrals that blend. All your big focal pieces should be white for instance the chaise in this picture. You could substitute that with 2 white chairs. The bedding all white with an interesting texture for the duvet or comforter. Your furniture should be an opposing color to add extra “pop” to your color selection. Any color paint on the walls will work with white depending on your personality. As always you should have a few floral arrangements with greenery in them to add to this look, a few candles and clean line lamps will add extra interest. If you want some color, pick that up in prints on the wall or pillows scattered throughout the room!
Decorating A Boy’s Room Is Fun!

Boy’s rooms are fun. Keeping the age in mind is always important. In this picture I chose colors that could ‘grow’ with the boys for a couple of years. No one wants to replace bedding every year, so when choosing for the boys room choose something you can change accessories and make it feel like a new look as they get older. For instance we originally had planes, trains and cars for accessories with this look and 2 years later updated it by adding new prints and collegiate accessories.
Bedroom Design Elegant Yet Simple

This bedroom design is elegant yet simple. When creating a look for your bedroom you want to make it a serene place to unwind from all the pressures of the day. Make it your oasis! In this design, we chose a neutral palate and adding this rich blue/slate color and accenting with a rich elegant gold. Again, when using neutrals anchor your room with a darker wood. I always try to make my rooms functional as well as beautiful. Notice the 2 cubes at the end of the bed. While helping to complete the look of this room, they are also functional providing storage and a place to sit to take off your shoes. If you’re like me, the children are always in and out of my room so it also provides additional seating if the need arises. Don’t forget your touch of greenery and your done!
Bathroom Decorating/Home Staging is so Important

Bathroom decorating/home staging is so important. Bathrooms help sell homes, especially the master bath. Make sure you clean out ALL the clutter!! You ALWAYS want to have your master bath sparkling clean, windows and mirrors included. Add a simple flower arrangement, fragranced soaps and a few new spa towels and you have it! Remember if you have your home for sale, people are there to imagine themselves in the house so remove the personal items. A simple, clean look always works. Don’t forget to light a few scented candles! Neutral paint choices in the bathrooms please! Potential buyers can always add color by adding accessories with their own color choices and in their minds resonates as one less room they have to spend money converting.
Living Room Design

This is such a warm, inviting room. Notice the color choice for the sofa is neutral. We incorporated different textures and patterns to add extra spice and interest to this room. A solid color pillow mixed with paisley and plaid pillows creates a warm and inviting feel. A strong color choice on the wall acts as a great anchor for this room. Beautiful yet simple curtains that are pulled back will give a larger appearance in the room. I always love to add a pop of color that is unexpected in a room, yet still blends, such as this great yellow structure on the coffee table. You only need one piece like this too add interest. Don’t forget your greenery and a few books. It really just makes you want to curl up and read a book!
Decorating a Girl’s Room is Fun!

Girl’s rooms are fun!! Remember to mix patterns, textures and colors. Girls grow up quick and they change their minds like the wind. Choose colors that can be changed easily. I love to use contrasting colors on the walls and the bedding. The green color choice in this picture can easily be changed in a few years by adding all white bedding with some splashes of color for accessories easily converting this little girl’s room to older, young ladies room that will carry her through several years. Night stands should always flank the beds. This is great for storage as well as practical use for lamps, alarm clocks and pictures. If you are home staging this room you want to remove all pictures and clocks leaving a clean look. Colorful, playful accessories are always a great choice for a girls room!
